In 2002, the Ebonettes Service Club, Inc. launched its “Dare to Make a Difference” Awards Program to spotlight ordinary people within our community who through the years have done extraordinary things in any of these four areas:

  • Service to Youth
  • Service to Seniors
  • Education
  • Political Involvement

During the annual Founders’ Day Program, the “Dare to Make a Difference” honorees are celebrated because they have exhibited an attitude of humanitarianism and have given unselfishly of their time, talents, skills, and service to enhance the lives of others.

They do so because they genuinely care, not because they expect to receive any fanfare, compensation, or special recognition for what they do. Their humanitarian efforts have undoubtedly benefited many area residents and have helped to put Durham on course to become a better community.

Your financial contributions to this program support underserved persons within the Durham community and annual scholarships that are awarded to deserving high school seniors who are graduating from Durham Public Schools.
